Are You Burning Out? Signs ND Parents Shouldn’t Ignore.

Parent burnout is REAL—and it’s something we don’t talk about enough. As a parent of a neurodivergent child, the constant demands of advocacy, care and planning can leave you physically and emotionally drained.  Not to mention that the there is a high likelihood that you as the parent also have a neurodivergence!


Signs of burnout include chronic fatigue, irritability, a sense of detachment and a freeze response where executive functioning crashes down like a cliff-face landslide. If you’re feeling this way, it’s crucial to prioritise self-care. Start small: set aside 10 minutes for deep breathing, a short walk or even just sitting quietly with a cup of tea.
